ASSOCIATE LECTURER, RESEARCH SUPERVISOR – ION

Remuneration: £21 per hour

The BSc (Hons) Nutritional Therapy and its associated degree top-up is currently offered part-time over 4.5 years, with online with synchronous weekly sessions, and with a single September and February intakes.

We are now looking to recruit 2 Research Supervisors to join our team in January 2025!

Research Supervisors support students through their undergraduate research journey. The research supervisor will act as a mentor, source of information and facilitator to students as they progress through planning and undertaking a research project.

In this role most supervisors take on 2-4 students per semester. The total paid hours for supervision, marking, and meetings for supervising 2 students per semester would be approximately 33hrs. ION has two semesters per year, so this is equivalent to 66hr per year (note: this is an approximation only, not a guarantee of working hours). Once you have agreed your supervision capacity for each semester you must commit to supporting the assigned students through to the successful submission of their research project.

You will come with:

  • A qualification in applied nutrition, nutritional therapy, functional medicine, to least at level 6 or the equivalent experience
  • Teaching or training experience in higher education
  • Previous experience supervising research projects
  • Organisational skills
  • Professional body membership/registration (a mandatory requirement for clinical modules only)
  • And be self-directed and able to contribute to the team
