Group Director of Nutrition & Wellbeing
KEY PURPOSE
As a Nutritionist for Thomas Franks you will be involved in driving innovation and nutrition education in our Scottish and Northern schools. As part of our nutrition team this role involves working closely with clients from independent schools and delivering nutrition educational material as well as internally assisting the Group Director of Nutrition. It also involves building relationships with our suppliers and support agencies.
As well as having an excellent presentation, and communication skills, you will be able to demonstrate a real passion & enthusiasm for nutrition education.
Develop and deliver nutrition education sessions and associated resources within schools with pupils from nursery years to Year 13, including pre-recorded education sessions.
Design and deliver new materials that enhance the education and curriculum support we offer to each school/contract.
Conduct nutrition audits / assessment of school food provision providing guidance to our catering and management teams on improvement areas.
Support schools on special diets and advise on menu creation
Assist in the delivery of TF’s nutrition strategy and work in collaboration with the nutrition team on food awareness campaigns e.g. Healthy eating week, mental health awareness, coeliac awareness, etc through collaboration with internal and external groups as appropriate
Support the Marketing team through delivering the nutrition social media content.
Support client/pupil workshops and activities with resources
Communicate internally and externally for the business.
Assist in the development of nutrition training and education resources for our catering teams
Supporting compliance across the business in relation to food safety, legislation and allergens.
Inputting of recipes and meal plans into computer software
Responsible for delivering on nutrition related projects as required.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Will have a degree (BSc) in Nutrition or currently studying for a degree at a recognised University
- Member of an approved Regulatory Body (BANT, AFN)
- Professional, organised, presentable, efficient and self-motivated
- Willing to travel and be away from home at times
- A passion for keeping up to date with research and national legislation
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills
- Excellent presentation skills
- Experience of delivering presentations to clients particularly schools
- Excellent IT skills
- Experience of working as a Nutritionist in the public / education sector
- Experience working and teaching pupils/students (preferable)
- Must have a valid driving licence.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
- Relevant Health and Safety qualification
- Experience in Allergen Care and training
- Previous experience delivering nutrition support to schools
